Summary of Duties The Director of Budget & Strategy reports to the City Manager through an Executive Director and is charged with advancing the City's commitment to financial stewardship, integrity and well-being of the City's budget, and the alignment of resources with intentional city-wide planning efforts.
The Budget section oversees the budget process and assists departments regarding budgeting and financial analysis.
The Strategic Planning section is responsible for the development of the citywide strategic plan and the management of its execution and modification.
The Director of Budget & Strategy will lead a unified team by reinforcing a culture of mentoring, problem-solving, innovation, and shared responsibility for budget and business strategy leadership across the organization, including assisting department directors in achieving their departmental visions and working together to achieve the City's vision through the budget, strategic planning, and performance management.
The Director is responsible for producing of a series of interrelated documents each year, including the annual budget and long-range financial forecasts, the five-year CIP, the annual Strategic Plan for the organization, and regular performance management reports.
Additionally, the Director participates in leading organizational advocacy for the implementation of goal measures and performance management efforts to assess programs' financial and strategic effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited university; a Master's degree is preferred.
Candidates must have seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal finance, city management, or a closely related field.
Requires experience managing large and complex budgets in a sophisticated and collaborative business environment, including four (4) years of management and supervisory experience.
A GFOA certification is preferred.

) BASIC LIFE and AD&D The City provides all employees annual salary of life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) coverage of one-time annual salary with a minimum of $50,000.
LONG TERM DISABILITY The City provides employees with Long Term Disability in the amount of 60% of your salary (depending on position category) to a maximum of $7,500 per month.
Benefits begin after 90 days of disability and may continue to Social Security Normal Retirement Age (SSNRA) if you qualify.
LTD is designed to replace a reasonable portion of your income in case ofserious injury or sickness whether on or off the job.
Benefits will be offset by any payments from SS, Workers Comp and other income offsets.
SUPPLEMENTAL LIFE and AD&D Employees can elect supplemental life insurance and AD&D coverage up to $750,000 for themselves and up to $250,000 for their spouse; as well as $15,000 of life insurance for child(ren).
SHORT TERM DISABILITY This optional benefit allows employees to receive 70% of their weekly salary, to a maximum of $1,500 per week (tax free), following either Option A:
a 30-calendar day elimination period; or Option B:
a 7-calendar (injury) or 14-calendar (illness) elimination period, for a maximum of 90-calendar days from on-set per qualifying incident.
