Systel Careers - Purchasing Manager - Sugar Land, TXAbout the JobWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Purchasing Manager to join our dynamic team at Systel.
We are looking for someone to lead improvements in the purchasing department's capabilities to support business needs, including setting strategic department goals, guiding sourcing activities, and working with the team to improve purchasing process effectiveness and efficiency.
As a member of Systel's Operations Leadership Team, this individual will help develop and execute operations strategic goals.
The Work Lead, manage and hold accountable Category managers and Planners in the Purchasing department.
Select source based on total cost of ownership and strategic directives.
Verify availability of parts quoted will meet specification and schedule requirements.
Provide updates to management for potential shortages, price movements (cost variance), change notices and end-of-life notifications.
Work with sales, engineering, manufacturing, and other departments (as required) to determine best course of action in purchasing decisions.
Ensure purchasing works with quality and engineering to resolving non-conforming material issues (NCR's) Daily material status updates to manufacturing Develop and implement purchasing policies, instructions and procedures.
Support Requirement Reviews on new customer orders - provide input about material or supplier issues to help determine critical path and best possible ship date commitments.
Dealing with End Of Life (EOL) issues Identify and mitigate supply chain risks Conduct strategic sourcing reviews at least annually and follow up on action items developed during those reviews Assist in preparing and presenting supplier report cards, supplier ratings, and supplier business reviews.
Provide forecasting to suppliers for anticipated purchases.
Negotiating terms, business agreements, non-disclosures, pricing, etc.
Work with Sales for forecasts / master schedule orders Conduct site surveys on existing suppliers and qualify new vendors Compile and publish supplier performance measures (On-time, etc.
) Ensure category managers provide feedback on to their suppliers on performance and suggest potential improvements (e.
g.
.
Scorecards) Initiating, processing and approving Vendor Corrective Action Requests.
Find prospective suppliers and/or respond to potential supplier proposals Help resolving payment, accounting and receiving issues Initiating and / or facilitating roadmap and product introduction meetings (Intel, WD, etc.
) Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Business or Science and APICS certification or five or more years experience in procurement, manufacturing environment, product management, and supplier management.
(Diploma or GED)
(APICS or 5+) Associates degree and APICS certification or two or more years experience in procurement, manufacturing environment, product management, and supplier management.
Associates
(APICS or 2+) Strong skill and knowledge of purchasing, including negotiation, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience utilizing MRP systems.
Ability to operate computer applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
Able to work independently, prioritize and handle multiple deadlines, proactive problem-solver, team player with excellent negotiations skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop effective business relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
